Manager, Truck Maintenance - Non-DOT

Key Responsibilities Lead a team of 15+ technicians, providing leadership and guidance to deliver company results. Meet one‑on‑one with direct reports to provide coaching and mentoring and help them find solutions. Retrieve, review, and monitor metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training or safety records to analyze team productivity and follow up with technicians, recommending changes to improve maintenance and repair efficiency. Travel to technician and customer locations frequently. Participate in and/or lead regular meetings with market team members across various functions (dispatch, parts, billing, etc.). Monitor operations to ensure technicians comply with administrative and DOT policies, safety rules, environmental and governmental regulations, and perform work consistent with organizational standards. Perform onboarding activities for technicians (equipment/tools, new hire documentation, system access). Conduct safety audits and quality control inspections (QCIs). Assist in developing and/or adhering to a monthly budget. Coordinate with market team members to set goals and strategies for improving team and market productivity. Collaborate with dispatch and sales to ensure each tech has a full schedule. Delegate work to technicians for unscheduled repair calls and coordinate with internal team accordingly. Participate in regular safety meetings and implement safety processes and procedures. Provide guidance and expert advice to management, subordinates, or customers on technical, systems‑oriented topics. Collaborate with customers to provide solutions that meet vehicle maintenance requirements. Function as liaison between technicians and customers, facilitating communication and problem‑solving. Drive and manage change initiatives impacting technicians (process improvements, technology adoption, organizational changes). Maintain engagement and productivity. Provide technicians with standard and emergency operating procedures for maintenance, replacement, and repair work. Monitor inventory levels of equipment, parts, or tools. Interview, select, and train new technicians. Act across Cox Fleet’s organizations to resolve items related to the technician’s role (HR, Parts/Procurement, Fleet Management, IT). Operate a company‑issued vehicle to travel to technicians and customer locations. Perform certain technician duties such as preventive maintenance or parts repairs or replacements as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, 6 years’ experience in a related field (alternative combinations such as master’s with 4 years can qualify). 1+ year of experience in a management or lead role. Valid driver’s license with a clean 3‑year MVR review; safe driving record required. Proficient coaching, mentoring, discipline, and difficult‑conversation skills (“tough love”). Knowledge of mobile work environment and maintenance practices for mobile maintenance. Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts to solve issues related to the technician job. Strong sense of urgency and action orientation. Functional and technical knowledge to perform at a high level. Comfortable with IT systems (dispatching software, reporting tools, Workday, Salesforce, Kronos, PowerBI, etc.). Strong ethics and values, customer focus, technician focus, change leadership, listening, interpersonal savvy, and problem‑solving ability.
