Tax Accountant

Lockshield Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Tax Accountant to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for the preparation of individual income tax returns, while also supporting tax planning, financial analysis, and client communication. We are looking for someone who values accuracy, professionalism, and relationships and someone who takes pride in helping clients feel confident and cared for throughout the tax process. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and review individual income tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules) with a high level of accuracy Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations Assist with tax planning strategies to help clients minimize liabilities and plan for the future Analyze income statements and financial documents to support accurate reporting and advisory services Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide updates Maintain organized and secure client records through our internal systems and client portal Stay current on tax law changes and apply updates to client work as needed Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of returns, especially during peak tax season Position reports to the Managing Partner and will work closely with this position to ensure accuracy, efficiency and client satisfaction QUALIFICATIONS Experience in individual tax preparation preferred Strong understanding of tax laws and compliance requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software Ability to analyze financial data and identify inconsistencies Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Experience in a public accounting or tax firm environment preferred Familiarity with client portal systems and digital document management preferred BENEFITS Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays Health Insurance Stipend SIMPLE IRA Match Flexible scheduling outside of peak tax season Professional development and continuing education opportunities Support for obtaining professional credentials, including Enrolled Agent (EA) certification Collaborative, team-oriented work environment with direct access to experienced accounting professionals Opportunities for career advancement and expanded responsibilities Employee appreciation events and team-building activities throughout the year Tax-season perks, including additional earned time off opportunities Strong family-first culture Community involvement and volunteer opportunities WHY JOIN LOCKSHIELD PARTNERS?
