Maintenance Technician

Shepard Steel is looking for a Maintenance Technician, with experience in the metal fabrication industry. Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the General Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, the maintenance technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property infrastructure. These items include but are not limited to: Troubleshoot and repair of welding machines Troubleshoot and repair of overhead cranes - 5 Ton capacity Perform minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary Perform preventative maintenance measures regularly Maintain inventory of production supplies and repair parts for factory equipment Troubleshoot and coordinate machine repairs with remote tech support Complete inspections of safety systems Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol General automotive repair and maintenance Snow removal - operating plow trucks, skid steers, snow blowers Perform other maintenance duties as requested Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent Ability to speak, read and write in English Valid driver’s license Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other technicians Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures Self-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude Willingness to work overtime as needed Must be willing to submit a drug test and background check Benefits Competitive salary (based on skill set) Health Insurance Vision Insurance Dental Insurance Life Insurance 401(k) Plan with Employer Match / Profit Sharing 1st Shift Monday – Friday (Additional overtime as required) Full Time Position Vacation / Holidays / Earned Days / Birthdays Shepard Steel is a structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication company that has been an integral part of the Connecticut construction landscape for over 65 years.
