Job Title: Registered Nurse - Stroke


Hourly Pay Rate: $50.25


Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specialized in stroke care to join our team. The nurse will provide high-quality nursing services for patients with stroke and other neurological conditions in a stepdown and MedSurg units. The ideal candidate will possess at least 2 years of recent acute care RN experience, including managing CVA/TIA, spinal surgeries, and cardiac monitoring. First-time travelers are welcome if they meet the experience criteria; prior permanent staff nurses need to be separated for at least one year if previously employed.


Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with acute stroke, TIA, and other neurological conditions.
• Manage patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor vital signs and neurological status.
• Utilize telemetry monitors for cardiac and neurological monitoring.
• Handle titratable medications including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed (manager approval required to offer without this experience).
• Support procedures such as chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and lumbar drains (preferred).
• Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, hospitalist, OT, PT, and ST.
• Document patient care accurately within EMR system (Meditech Expanse).

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH.
• Skills: Ability to manage titratable gtts, perform chest tube management, and pass EKG competency exam.
• Support on the unit includes charge nurse responsibilities and working in a fast-paced acute environment.

Schedule:

• 4 days one week and 3 days the next, with weekend rotations every other week.
• Night shift schedule: Two groups with rotating workdays; 5/2 schedule with periods of 5 days on, 5 off, and 2 days on, 2 off.
• Up to 7 days of time off allowed per 13-week contract (with extension policy).
• Will work holidays (2/3 holidays expected).
