The IT Training Specialist will serve as an educator and training resource for newly implemented and existing technologies. This individual will deliver both virtual and instructor-led training, support new employee education, provide post-implementation optimization and stabilization training, and develop instructional materials for a variety of learning environments. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on healthcare IT training experience, strong knowledge of Cerner clinical applications, and the ability to translate complex technical and clinical workflows into clear, engaging learning experiences for end users. Ideal Candidate Profile The successful candidate will be an experienced healthcare IT trainer who is equally comfortable facilitating a live classroom, leading a virtual session, and independently developing instructional content. This person should understand how technology supports both clinical and operational workflows and be able to turn complex processes into practical, easy-to-understand training. Candidates should be polished communicators who can confidently engage with end users, subject matter experts, project teams, managers, and other stakeholders. The role requires someone who is organized, adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare IT environment, and capable of balancing training delivery with curriculum development and project responsibilities. Work Environment This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, California, with approximately 70% onsite and 30% remote work anticipated. Local candidates are required due to the regular onsite responsibilities associated with the position. - Deliver instructor-led, virtual, classroom, computer lab, webinar, and other technology-based training programs.
- Provide end-user training for newly implemented and existing healthcare technology applications.
- Conduct new employee training, remediation training, post-implementation education, and optimization/stabilization training.
- Develop classroom-style training programs for new applications, systems, and hardware.
- Create engaging learning experiences using instructional techniques such as demonstrations, group discussions, exercises, videos, lectures, and hands-on activities.
- Develop self-paced learning resources using video, audio, eLearning, and other computer-based training tools.
- Create and maintain participant guides, instructor materials, job aids, quick reference guides, presentations, handouts, and short video tutorials.
- Develop and/or contribute to eLearning scripts and digital learning content.
- Evaluate existing training materials and recommend improvements based on learner and organizational needs.
- Assess training needs through stakeholder discussions, employee interviews, surveys, focus groups, and consultation with managers and end users.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document training participation, learner outcomes, and overall program effectiveness.
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions based on classroom, instructor, equipment, and participant availability.
- Partner with clinical, technical, operational, and business stakeholders to understand application workflows and translate them into effective training.
- Support small-scale project management initiatives related to training and technology implementation.
- Assist with investigating and troubleshooting intermittent technical or application-related issues encountered during training.
- Stay current on technology, training methodologies, healthcare applications, and developments within the area of expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated IT training experience within a healthcare environment.
- Experience delivering both virtual and in-person instructor-led training.
- Working competency with both Ambulatory and Inpatient Cerner clinical application bundles.
- Strong understanding of healthcare business and clinical application workflows.
- Hands-on experience developing training materials such as participant guides, job aids, quick reference guides, presentations, and short video tutorials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience using SnagIt or similar screen-capture/content-development tools.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, clinical stakeholders, business users, leadership, and other cross-functional partners.
- Ability to work effectively in a large, dynamic, project-driven environment.
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and commitment to high-quality work.
- Experience training users on enterprise business applications such as ServiceNow, Kronos, Lawson, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing eLearning scripts and digital training content.
- Experience supporting large-scale healthcare technology implementations, upgrades, or optimization initiatives.
- Experience with post-go-live stabilization, remediation, and workflow optimization training.
- Previous experience coordinating or managing smaller training or technology-related projects.
