Referral Specialist

Matrix Medical Management is looking for a full-time Referral Specialist to join our team in our Bellaire office. The Referral Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of administrative duties to include referral processing, patient registration, verification of benefits, insurance authorizations, patient appointment scheduling, program communication to potential candidates, communication with referral sources.

Essential functions include: tracking, coordination and communication of patient referrals; ensuring complete and accurate patient registration, including demographics and current insurance information; handling requests from third party referral sources and providing relevant information and data; serving as point person for multidisciplinary evaluation process to include patient scheduling, third party communications, and internal communications; assembling information concerning patients clinical background and referral needs; contacting insurance companies to ensure verification of benefits and prior authorization approval requirements are met; reviewing details and expectation of referral with the potential patient; assisting patients in problem solving potential issues related financial or social barriers (e.g., request interpreters as appropriate, transportation services, etc.); ensuring that referrals are addressed in a timely manner; reminding patients of scheduled appointment; communicating patient updates between program and referring source; traveling as necessary to other facilities.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: strong customer service focus; effective verbal and written communication skills; teamwork orientation; organized and able to manage multiple priorities; strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word & eCW; ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.

Education and experience: high school diploma or its equivalent.
