Operations & Delivery Director

Ptera is a growing technology company headquartered in New York City, with a delivery and engineering branch in Prishtina. We are looking for an experienced Operations and Delivery Director to oversee the day-to-day branch operations and client delivery. This is a critical leadership hire with significant authority. The Operations and Delivery Director will be a key member of the leadership team and will be the final decision-maker for operational, delivery, and technical matters within the branch. Reports to: Founders Key Responsibilities Lead Day-to-Day Operations Oversee daily operations and execution across engineering and delivery teams Ensure the company runs effectively and independently Translate strategy into clear priorities and actions Make timely decisions and resolve issues with minimal escalation Own Delivery Take full ownership of delivery across all client projects and internal initiatives Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the expected quality standard Identify risks early and take corrective action Standardize delivery processes, reporting, and accountability Provide technical direction and oversight across development teams Set and enforce engineering standards and architectural principles Act as the final technical escalation point when needed Balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability and scalability Lead and Develop People Manage, mentor, and hold accountable team leads, engineers, and delivery managers Set clear expectations and performance standards Build a culture of ownership, execution, and continuous improvement Identify gaps in team capability, process or structure and proactively drive solutions Manage Clients and Stakeholders Serve as a senior operational and delivery contact for key clients Set expectations clearly and handle challenging delivery conversations with confidence Represent the company with professionalism and credibility Protect both client trust and team sustainability Decision Authority Make final operational and delivery decisions within the branch Approve or reject timelines, scopes, and delivery plans Make final technical decisions when escalation is required Assign and reassign resources and priorities Enforce agreed standards,processes and ways of working What This Role Is Not Not a project coordinator or middle manager Not a legal or administrative role Not a proxy waiting for founder approval Candidate Profile Strong background in software engineering, technical delivery or technology leadership Proven experience leading delivery and operations in a techology, software services or consulting environment Confident making final decisions in complex and uncertain situations Credibility with engineers and the ability to build trust with clients A High level of ownership and low tolerance for disorder or inefficiency What Success Looks Like The company runs smoothly without founders being involved day to day decisions Decisions are made quickly and effectively at a local level Projects are delivered predictably on time and to a high standard Teams demonstrate ownership and reduced dependency on senior employees Clients experience continuity, confidence and strong execution Why Join Ptera Real authority and autonomy Direct impact over company operations and growth Opportunity to shape teams, processes, and standards Strong potential for Long-term progression into executive leadership Who Should NOT Apply Need frequent approval before making decisions Avoid difficult decisions or accountability Struggle with ambiguity, ownership and pace Avoid conflict with team or clients Looking for a coordination-only role Want a senior title without the corresponding responsibility What We Offer International working environment with offices in Prishtina and New York.
