Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant - SCI Mercer

As a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer, you will take an active role in moving inmate employment activities forward. This position brings steady variety and keeps you engaged with many different tasks throughout the day. You will grow your skills while helping important processes stay organized and on track. Responsibilities Data Entry: Enter work assignments, class enrollments, and participation updates into required systems Record Tracking: Maintain information for identification documents, applications, and employment history File Management: Prepare, update, and organize inmate employment files, questionnaires, and waiting lists Staff Communication: Communicate with work supervisors regarding hires, payroll, progress reports, and job changes Inmate Transition: Close out departing inmate records and assist with Inmate Idleness Committee Meetings Audit Assistance: Assist with audits and verify information for accuracy and completeness Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of clerical experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement.
