VPI Therapist

Overview Casa Central’s Violence Prevention & Intervention (VPI) program offers culturally and linguistically attuned, trauma‑informed therapy and support services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, and other traumas. Role Summary The Therapist provides clinical intervention for children ages 0‑5 and their families, adult counseling for survivors of domestic violence, and supportive services such as case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, psychoeducation, and referral linkage. The Therapist also supports program staff in development, evaluation, and community outreach activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain a caseload of 16‑18 clients and their families. Deliver individual, family, and group counseling, including Child Parent Psychotherapy, in‑office, via telehealth, and in the community. Implement timely crisis intervention and safety‑planning strategies for survivors of domestic violence. Advocate for clients in interactions with police, clinics, court, child‑welfare, and housing providers. Participate in multidisciplinary and legal advocacy activities, including court accompaniment, filing orders of protection, and navigating family‑court processes. Conduct intake and screening assessments for clients referred for domestic‑violence services and for trauma‑informed therapy. Complete comprehensive mental‑health assessments (e.g., IM+CANS) and program evaluation measures. Co‑design personalized service and goal plans with clients and families, and develop safety plans. Link clients and families to community resources, coordinating care with legal services, shelters, and early‑intervention programs. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with agency and fund‑er policies, including Medicaid/Part 132/Part 140 documentation. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on services and program activities. Approve timesheets, manage supply orders, and oversee administrative tasks. Stay current on laws and regulations related to domestic violence and mental‑health confidentiality. Facilitate staff meetings, supervision, and professional development; provide backup support for walk‑in/crisis intakes. Offer community education and training on domestic violence, childhood exposure to violence, and early‑childhood trauma. Provide oversight of Masters‑level interns as needed. Participate in performance‑quality improvement activities, including PQI processes and participant satisfaction surveys. Develop collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and coalition members to support the Safe Start Coalition and broader community networking. General Requirements Evening and weekend availability preferred; flexibility to accommodate client schedules and travel to provide in‑home/community services is required. Sensitivity to cultural diversity is essential. The candidate must pass drug and alcohol screening, aptitude and skills testing. Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Social Work or related human services field (Therapist 1). Clinical Social Work or Counseling experience with families exposed to violence is preferred. Previous training in Child Parent Psychotherapy or infant/early‑childhood mental health is highly preferred. Completion of an 18‑month Child Parent Psychotherapy Learning Cohort and a 40‑hour Domestic‑Violence Certification within three months of hire is required, as is Human Trafficking training within three months. Language Skills Spanish fluency is preferred. Computer Literacy Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Physical Demands Requires regular sitting, speaking, hearing, and hand use. Capable of lifting up to 25 lb. Work Environment Moderate noise level; interactions with program staff, participants, and external partners are frequent.
