Short-Term Opportunity: Six to Nine Months.
Location: Hybrid - Candidates will be required to report on-site 2- 3 times per week.

The duties and responsibilities specified below are representative of the range of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list. 

Financial Recordkeeping

• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP, federal/state/local laws, and procurement regulations. · Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition and compliance with accounting standards. ·       
• Prepare and review journal entries for complex transactions, including accruals, prepaids, and contract accounting. ·      
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations (e.g., accounts receivable/payable, cash, investments, payroll, etc.). ·       
• Participate in month- and year-end close processes, including preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.  

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and review financial statements and schedules for internal management and external auditors. ·      
• Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and risks, and provide recommendations to management. ·       
• Recommend and implement process improvements and technology solutions to streamline accounting operations.

Qualifications: ·       
Economics and Accounting : Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data. ·       

Mathematics : Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. ·       

English Language : Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.       

Computers and Electronics : Knowledge of processors and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. ·       
Clerical : Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. ·       

Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources. 

Experience:
Preferred 2 – 5 years of public sector and/or non-profit accounting experience
Preferred experience with Oracle Fusion ERP (or similar system)

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting, and at least three years of experience in financial reporting. 
Drain accounting experience is a plus.
