This position is responsible for reviewing EMS patient care reports (PCRs), researching insurance coverage, validating demographic details, and identifying missing or inaccurate data before claims move forward in the billing workflow.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, problem-solving, working in a fast-paced environment, and managing multiple tasks with precision. The Patient Research Specialist helps ensure clean claims and supports timely and accurate reimbursement for our EMS clients.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReceive, review, and process EMS patient care reports (PCRs) for assigned clients, ensuring all cases are handled promptly and accuratelyResearch, gather, and verify insurance information, using internal systems, online tools, and external payer resources to confirm active coverage for the date of serviceValidate demographic data, including patient name, date of birth, mailing address, and other required identifiers—performing additional research when information is incomplete or missingConfirm insurance eligibility and correct payer sequencing to support proper billing and claim adjudicationIdentify discrepancies or missing data and take proactive steps to resolve them before claims are submitted for codingDocument all findings, updates, and corrections within the appropriate systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal standardsCollaborate with internal teams, including Coding, QA, Client Services, and other billing departments, to resolve questions and ensure smooth workflow transitionsMaintain productivity targets and turnaround times, meeting daily and weekly expectations for assigned client volumesSupport special assignments or tasks as directed by the Department Manager, including overflow work, data cleanup, and quality improvement initiativesAdditional job duties as assignedSkills/Experience RequiredEducation: High School Diploma or equivalentStrong ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities with accuracyAbility to work independently and remain focused in a remote, deadline-driven environmentCollaborative team player with the ability to communicate professionally with internal departments and external partnersPleasant, professional, and customer-focused demeanorAbility to maintain composure and deliver quality work under pressureStrong computer literacy, including comfort working with dual monitors and navigating multiple systems simultaneouslyExcellent follow-through, attention to detail, and accuracy in data reviewStrong written communication skills, including grammar and documentation clarityAbility to meet strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality workReliable, punctual, and dependable with strong work accountabilityQuick learner who takes clear, organized notes during trainingComfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when neededAbility to independently manage all aspects of the job role including required goals and business practices in a remote environmentSarnova is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
