ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Overview of Responsibilities

• Provide general administrative support for the Claims & Risk Management Dept.
• Operates the handling of workers’ compensation claims from open to close under the following claim types with supervision: Report Only, Medical Only, Modified Duty, and Lost Time.
• Supports injured employees through the Workers’ Compensation process.
• Acts as a liaison between injured employees, recruiters, payroll, clients, and insurance company to coordinate benefits.
• Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and develop recommendations for actions to prevent accident/injury recurrence.
• Receive, sort and scan incoming mail.
• Review and upload miscellaneous client safety documentation.
• Maintain and update claim files.

Investigation aspects of the position:

• On call claim rotation
• Examine photographs (including environmental and injury photographs), video surveillance, audio clips, statements, and all other documentation related to the claim.
• Authorize medical care and post-accident drug screening.
• Follow up regularly on missing medical dictation and drug screens.
• Ensure claims are handled in the most efficient and effective way by keeping open communication with employees, clinics, clients, and insurance company
• Initiate claims status discussions with claim examiners and attorneys to discuss claim handling improvements, expedite resolution, and develop methods to control cost and severity
• Support corporate-wide return to work/transitional duty programs by creating and sending modified duty assignments to injured workers as needed
• Document telephone conversations, written statements, medical reports, accident investigation results and payment of medical bills
• Track and send modified duty reports to Payroll
• Analyzes claim trends to develop recommendations for improved safety and claims management efforts
• Additional point of contact and resource for employees, insurance carriers, broker client advocates, attorneys, claim examiners and medical providers on company workers’ compensation policy, procedures, and regulations

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participates in periodic claim reviews
• Assist with department audits
• Respond to Client Set-Up Requests
• Educate clients on organization’s injury protocol and processes
• Conduct annual and regular training of staff on risk and safety topics.
• Attend Weekly Recruiter Meetings
• Approve and issue payments for bills and invoices as needed
• Log and Save Personal Injuries and Safety Walkthrough Forms
• Participate in the implementation of educational programs to promote risk management in the organization
• Participate in conducting safety walkthroughs of client sites as needed
• Stay educated on OSHA regulations/requirements
• Assist with additional department tasks as needed

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in an office environment
• Minimum 2 years of customer service, human resource, or administrative experience
