Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Essential duties include:

• Assist with implementation of behavioral interventions to support student access to educational environments.
• Support implementation of behavior intervention plans.
• Support implementation of positive behavior support plans.
• Assist with classroom management and respond to undesirable behaviors by replacing them with desired behaviors.
• Maximize student access to the curriculum and create student independence.
• Work 1:1 with a student or a floating position to support numerous students.
• Collect, record, and summarize data on observable student behavior.
• Build and maintain the positive school and classroom culture held within this school district.
• Support students in a variety of settings such as the community, job sites, field trips, and recreation.
• Calmly respond to unexpected behaviors independently and appropriately.
• Perform duties necessary to support students who need assistance with daily life/health related activities as assigned by the teacher, supervisor, or BCBA.
• Communicate proactively and timely with the BCBA, teacher, and parent/guardian.
• Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to students and programs.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable, daily transportation.
• Transport students on occasion using district vehicle.
• Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance.
• Follow work rules.
• Adhere to MCISD Board policies and guidelines, including Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA) guidelines.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, waist high (lifting test required).
• Carry out all other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent, required. Associate degree, preferred.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, required.

Experience:

• Knowledge and experience in Applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment methodologies.
• Prior experience working with special needs children.

Skills/Other:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to work with severely disabled children.
• Ability to interact with staff and public required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to perform all duties with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
