Production Manager - Wire Harness Manufacturing

Location: Huntsville, AL

Position Status: Full Time

Work Schedule:  Regular hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.

Brief Job Description:

The Production Manager oversees the entire production process of wire harnesses. The Production Manager also assists with planning, directing, and conducting material cost/pricing as related to BOM development, technical data packages and submission. The Production Manager will work to develop relationships with customers to foster capability growth. The Production Manager may also identify potential suppliers and work with Operations Department to screen them as related to supporting production operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists Procurement with identifying potential suppliers based on project requirements
• Acts as the primary point of contact between our business, customers and some suppliers related to wire harness production
• Utilizes Axxeum's ERP Software to develop, schedule and release production related jobs and work orders within the ERP system
• Maintains production schedules and forecasting while preserving delivery schedules, adequate manning, and customer requirements
• Ensures the department operates within AS9100D quality standards and follows company policies and procedures
• Maintains training schedules and conducts weekly Production Management meeting with the production team
• Collaborates with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
• Implements and manages efficient production flow to ensure optimum production with focus on consistent improvements
• Provide oversight and guidance to the entire Production Department
• Creates and maintains accurate and consistent multi-level Bills of Material (BOM) from Customer provided Schematics or Technical Data Packages (TDP) to support order management, manufacturing, material requirements and cost
• Coordinates information to create bill of materials to be used in production when building job travelers and work instructions
• Ensures updated TDPs are dispersed when revisions are released.
• Works with managers, operations department, and executives within the company to engage in capital projects
• Monitors changes in the industry and develops forecasts to determine appropriate budgets; these forecasts are then used to develop comprehensive strategies to further the company's operational goals
• Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve efficiencies in production
• Assists Director of Business Development / Director of Operations in presenting our capabilities to other companies (Large OEMs)
• Performs other tasks as needed

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

• Should have at least five to seven (5-7) years of experience in a high reliability manufacturing experience; defense/aerospace manufacturing experience is highly desired
• Must have at least three to four (3-4) years in a supervisory role.
• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in a related field is desired
• Must be familiar with working under AS 9100
• Current or past certifications in J-STD-001, IPC-610 and IPC-60.
• Must have working knowledge of Military Standards as it relates to Harness and Electronical Box builds
• Must have strong understanding of production, procurement and negotiation techniques
• Must be capable of passing background check
• Must be capable of passing a drug screen
• Must have strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Must be able to travel to meet with customers and suppliers and work overtime, as required
• Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management
• Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are Required

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Generally, work is conducted in an inside environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work or travel may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates.
