What it’s like to be a SNAP Youth Justice Coordinator at Family Resources As a SNAP Youth Justice Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in transforming the lives of youth aged 12‑19 who are currently on probation and battling challenges in emotional regulation, problem‑solving skills, and self‑control. Utilizing the evidence‑based SNAP program—STOP NOW AND PLAN—you’ll guide participants through one hour of engaging sessions each week for 13 weeks, or twice a week for six weeks, equipping them with essential skills to navigate difficult situations in a constructive manner. You’ll collaborate closely with the youth and their probation officers, ensuring tailored support for improved decision‑making. This role is not just about delivering the program; you’ll maintain comprehensive documentation, oversee data entry for pre‑ and post‑assessments, and conduct follow‑up calls to confirm that the right resources are being utilized. Your proactive communication and teamwork will be vital in fostering better outcomes for these youth, setting them on a path to success and responsible choices. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills are crucial in developing effective working relationships with youth, probation officers, and community stakeholders from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Demonstrating cultural awareness and sensitivity will enhance your interactions and facilitate a supportive environment for clients. A valid Florida driver’s license, a clear driving record, and current automobile insurance are required for transportation needs across Pinellas and Manatee Counties, particularly during non‑traditional business hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary. Professionalism must be maintained in daily operations and teamwork, with an emphasis on promoting a cohesive work environment. A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of three years’ experience working with youth and families, ensuring you are well equipped to navigate the complexities of this rewarding role. Knowledge and Skills Required for the Position Develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds; demonstrate awareness and acceptance of cultural differences. Possess excellent interpersonal communication, organizational, and time‑management skills. Hold a valid Florida driver’s license, clear driving record, and current automobile insurance. Maintain background compliance with Department of Juvenile Justice requirements. Possess a cellular phone to be used for agency business. Work schedule: Non‑traditional business hours up to 8 pm in Pinellas and Manatee counties; willing to work weekends if needed. Display professionalism in day‑to‑day operations, including teamwork, volunteering when needed, and promoting a cohesive working environment; maintain professionalism in relationships with outside agencies. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred, with emphasis in social work, psychology, or a related field. Minimum of three years’ experience working with youth and their families.
