Collaborating Physician

The Medical Director serves as the administrative clinical leader for our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in North Carolina. This is a strictly administrative, non-clinical role focused on high-level medical oversight, protocol development, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with our IOP staff. The ideal candidate ensures our facility maintains the highest quality standards for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and remains fully aligned with North Carolina state guidelines. Hours: Part-time (Approximately 5 to 10 hours per month) Key Responsibilities Mid-Level Collaboration: Act as the supervising/collaborative physician for the program's IOP staff in accordance with North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) regulations. Policy & Protocol Management: Review, approve, and maintain evidence-based medical and clinical protocols utilized within the IOP framework. Clinical Advisory: Provide high-level consultation to the Clinical Director and executive leadership regarding program structure, medical necessity, and complex case dynamics. Compliance & Quality Assurance NC Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all program policies meet the standards set by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR). Accreditation Support: Assist in maintaining facility alignment with national and/or accreditation standards. Quality Improvement: Participate in quarterly Quality Assurance (QA) reviews and administrative chart audits to monitor documentation accuracy and program outcomes. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Licensure Degree: MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Licensure: Active, completely unrestricted North Carolina Medical License. Board Certification: Board Certified or Psychiatry is strongly preferred. Candidates in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with dedicated experience in addiction treatment will be considered. Experience & Skills Addiction Care Expertise: Proven experience working within substance use disorder (SUD) frameworks and familiarity with ASAM criteria for outpatient levels of care. Supervisory Experience: Prior experience meeting NCMB requirements for collaborative supervision of mid-level practitioners. Administrative Focus: Comfort working in a role that does not involve direct patient contact, physical examinations, or daily prescribing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
