At Nexus Neurorecovery Center, we are committed to helping each individual rebuild independence, purpose, and quality of life—because at Nexus, we're mending minds.Position SummaryThe Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays an important role in helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence following neurological injury or complex medical illness. Working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA provides hands-on therapy to support functional movement, balance, and daily activity skills while helping patients make meaningful progress toward rehabilitation goals.As part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, the PTA works with patients who may have cognitive, neurological, behavioral, or medically complex conditions in a structured therapeutic environment.This role requires consistency, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain patient, adaptable, and team-focused while supporting individuals through challenging but rewarding recovery journeys.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Physical TherapistAssist with therapeutic exercises focused on strength, mobility, balance, and functional independenceSupport patients with neurologic, developmental, or medically complex conditionsMonitor patient response to treatment and report progress to supervising therapistAssist with adaptive equipment, mobility devices, and therapeutic activitiesCollaborate with occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, nursing, and medical staffMaintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical recordFollow Nexus policies, HIPAA standards, and safety proceduresUse approved de-escalation techniques when needed to maintain safetySupport a structured, therapeutic environment that promotes patient progressQualificationsActive Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license in the State of Texas requiredGraduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program requiredBLS / CPR Certification requiredDe-escalation training required within 30 days of hireExperience working with neurologic, rehabilitation, or medically complex patients preferredHospital, inpatient, or rehabilitation experience strongly preferredExperience working with behavioral or cognitively impaired patients preferredAbility to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical teamCompassionate, patient-centered approach to careOur Core Values: GOPTIC At Nexus, GOPTIC is more than a slogan—it's the foundation of how we care for patients and families!
