Accountant

The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the financial operations of our clinical research site. This role is responsible for recording monthly journal entries, completing monthly close procedures, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting the business with financial data and analysis. The ideal candidate will have accounting fundamentals with experience in clinical trials, healthcare, or service-based industries, and a working knowledge of general accounting, internal controls, operational finance, and process improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances Support accrual accounting processes, including prepaid expenses and fixed assets Analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness Assist with revenue and other operational accounting activities as needed Maintain accurate supporting documentation and organized accounting records Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance-related requests Assist with implementation and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability within the accounting function Partner cross-functionally with operational departments to resolve accounting and reporting matters Support ad hoc financial analysis, reporting requests and special projects

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred) 1-3 years of accounting experience; public accounting experience a plus Strong understanding of US GAAP Proficiency in NetSuite preferred but not required Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations, review journal entries, and explain variances Adaptability to a rapidly changing work environment and the ability to manage decentralized teams and make responsive decisions Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and create and present reports Computer skills – working knowledge of MS Office, Google applications, and NetSuite, with the ability to generate business correspondence, create forms, and produce reports; familiarity with innovative AI tools is a plus Professionalism and integrity in all actions, with a commitment to teamwork, cooperation, self-control and flexibility Ability to communicate in English (both verbal and written) Science 37 is an equal opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr Science 37
