Avon Hospital's Emergency Department provides comprehensive emergency care to adults and children 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. As Nursing Clinical Clerical, you will assist with various tasks, including both administrative functions and direct patient care. On the clerical end, you will perform data collection, maintain a safe environment and ensure an adequate level of supplies. Alongside a fellow nurse, you will ensure patients receive the correct treatments and daily support as indicated. This role offers a unique way to enhance both your administrative and nursing skills in a welcoming, supportive healthcare setting.

A caregiver in this role works evenings from 11:00 a.m. 11:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide patient care under the direction of an RN.
• Assist with data collection and treatments.
• Perform administrative functions for the unit.
• Observe and report changes in patients' condition.
• Document activities in the patient care record.
• Assist with transporting and discharging patients.
• Transcribe and process all orders.
• Prepare, maintain and process all charts, files, records and mail.
• Maintain inventory.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross before or within the new hire period
• Proficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level
• Basic computer skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Previous health care and patient care experience in a hospital
• Completion of a Medical Assisting course
• State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
