Production Supervisor Assistant

Position Summary

We are seeking a Production Supervisor Assistant to support daily operations within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for helping coordinate production employees, maintaining productivity and quality standards, supporting training, and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

The Supervisor Assistant works closely with the Production Supervisor and other members of the leadership team to keep production running smoothly and ensure employees have the resources, training, and direction needed to be successful.

This is a working leadership position , meaning the Supervisor Assistant will actively perform production tasks while providing direction and support to the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day direction and support to employees within an assigned production area.
• Help ensure daily production schedules and output requirements are met.
• Monitor production activities to ensure work is completed according to established procedures and quality standards.
• Perform production duties alongside team members as needed.
• Assist with employee assignments to ensure manpower is used effectively.
• Help train and develop new and existing employees on proper production procedures, equipment, tools, and safety practices.
• Monitor employee training needs and communicate additional training requirements to the Supervisor.
• Conduct routine quality checks and help identify and prevent defects, rework, and production delays.
• Ensure required production paperwork, logs, and records are completed accurately and on time.
• Monitor equipment and tools and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Follow and reinforce company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Ensure employees are using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with material movement, staging, labeling, and inventory activities as needed.
• Help coordinate materials and supplies to prevent production interruptions.
• Communicate production concerns, employee issues, equipment problems, and other operational concerns to the Supervisor.
• Work cooperatively with other departments and leadership to meet production goals.
• Assist with shift startup and shutdown activities as needed.
• Provide coverage for production employees when necessary.
• Assist with performance evaluations and other employee-related activities as requested.
• Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with coworkers and management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Production Manager.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Technical or vocational training is a plus but not required.

Experience

• Approximately 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
• Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience working with production equipment, tools, materials, and processes.
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• Ability to learn and perform multiple positions within a production department.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive production tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required by the position.
• Ability to work around manufacturing equipment and production areas.
• Ability to wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety footwear, hard hat, and respiratory protection depending on the work area.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift if required and properly trained.

Reliability & Attendance

Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Candidates must be dependable, arrive prepared to work at the scheduled start time, and communicate appropriately regarding any necessary absence or schedule issue.
