RN Pediatrics

About the Unit We are a 70‑bed unit which includes 8 pediatric progressive beds. Our staff have the knowledge to care for many types of pediatric diagnoses, including oncology, hematology, endocrinology, neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, trauma, neuro, ENT surgeries, respiratory, adolescent medicine (disordered eating), gastroenterology, and more. The team includes registered nurses, nursing assistants, clinical assistants, nurse practitioners, resident physicians, hospitalists, child life specialists, social workers, dietitians, physical & occupational therapists, speech‑language pathologists, chaplains, and others trained to provide compassionate, high‑quality care. Scope of Work and Responsibilities Provide professional nursing care utilizing the ANA scope of practice and the nursing process. Administer patient‑family centered care: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge. Document care and education in the health record, developing teaching strategies for patients and families. Deliver care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures. Recognize the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. Partner with patients/families to incorporate their input and goals into the plan of care. Qualifications Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing (required) or Bachelor’s in Nursing (required within 5years of new graduate/nurse with less than one year experience). Graduates from non‑accredited nursing schools must have at least one year of acute‑care experience or at least two years in a licensed health‑care role. Successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination. Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required, or new graduate within 60days of hire. BLS (AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke) required upon hire/transfer. PALS certification required within one year of hire/transfer. Specialty certification highly recommended; experience with pediatric care preferred. One year of acute‑care RN experience required.
