Chief Accounting Officer

Ascension Search Partners is leading the search for a Chief Accounting Officer to join a rapidly growing, private equity–backed platform as it enters its next phase of scale. This newly created role offers a rare chance to design the accounting organization from the ground up while partnering directly with senior leadership on an aggressive acquisition strategy and long‑term capital markets trajectory.

Reporting to the CFO, the CAO will sit at the center of the company’s growth agenda—owning accounting strategy, building modern infrastructure, and preparing the business for the financial rigor required of a future public company. The role is ideal for an executive who thrives in PE environments and wants visible influence, meaningful complexity, and the opportunity to leave a permanent imprint on a growing enterprise .

The Opportunity

This is not a maintenance role. The incoming Chief Accounting Officer will create scale where it does not yet exist , bringing discipline, consistency, and modernization to a decentralized, multi‑entity organization. The CAO will be hands‑on early, then transition toward enterprise leadership as the platform continues to expand through M&A and a future IPO.

Who This Role Is For

The successful candidate is a credible, execution‑oriented accounting leader who has already seen what “scale” looks like—and is excited to build it again . You are equally comfortable in technical discussions with auditors and in pragmatic, real‑time decision‑making with operating leaders. You are a "Big 4" alumnus with a CPA license and public company reporting experience. Direct involvement in IPO preparation or public‑company readiness initiatives highly preferred.
