Required Skills & Experience:

Support Environmental Engineer, by executing assigned field tasks, inspections, sampling, and records; escalate deficiencies and data gaps promptly.

Hazardous waste operations: collect, package, label, and stage hazardous and universal waste from production, maintenance, and support areas; conduct SAA/CAA inspections (labels, dates, accumulation time); complete manifests; schedule vendors; and coordinate drum moves and shipments.

Compile generator-knowledge and field information for waste profiles and share with Environmental Engineer.

Stormwater: support monthly industrial stormwater visual inspections and enter results in MyEHS; perform BMP, catch-basin, yard, and structural-control (e.g., Safe Drain) field checks; photo-document conditions and close out findings with area owners. Storm drain maintenance is a tentative scope item.

Support SWPPP implementation in the field (inspection routes, maps, housekeeping observations).

SPCC: complete tank and container inspections and spill-kit inventory/restock.

Wastewater: collect samples, maintain chain of custody, and keep field logs.

Air/PBR field support: walk generators and similar equipment (location, hour meter, operability) and help collect department usage-log data.

Verify secondary containment in the field (debris, EMPTY/upside-down containers, required capacity) against site procedures.

Pull records, prepare binders, and ensure recordkeeping for programs.

Provide emergency spill support (contain, absorb, overpack) and decontamination.

Provide on-call coverage for PTO, training, weekend work, and off-shift events.

Keep inspection and shipping records complete, accurate, and inspection-ready.

High school diploma or equivalent.

2+ years of experience in environmental operations, hazardous waste, industrial stormwater, or a similar manufacturing / industrial setting.

HAZWOPER, DOT, and RCRA training certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).

Ability to work outdoors and on the production floor; climb, lift, and inspect tanks, yards, drains, and accumulation areas.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.

Proficiency in operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and carts (or ability to certify).

Valid driver's license.

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word, with strong overall computer literacy and the ability to adapt to EHS software (e.g., MyEHS) and other tools.

Job Description:

The Environmental Technician reports to the Staff Environmental Engineer, Energy CA & TX, and is the on-the-ground support for Environmental Engineer. This role executes field and operations work across hazardous waste and other environmental programs — including stormwater, SPCC, wastewater, air/PBR field data, and secondary containment — so the Environmental Engineer can stay focused on permits, determinations, and technical program content. This is not a hazwaste-only seat. The Technician inspects, collects, samples, records, and coaches the floor; the Engineer owns regulatory filings and technical adequacy.
