Join us!Purpose of Job:The Sales Associate provides fast and friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. This role maintains the condition of the sales floor, ensuring that it is clean and shoppable. They will also make deliveries and test/install car batteries.Job Components:Provide exceptional, friendly customer service in a fast-paced retail environmentGreet every customer with a positive attitude & smileEngage customers to understand their needs using open-ended questionsMaintain strong product knowledge to confidently assist and advise customersPromote special offers, and current sales to enhance the customer experienceExplain product features and benefits in a clear and helpful wayDrive sales by recommending "good, better, best" options and related add-on itemsMeet or exceed individual sales goals and performance expectationsAccurately process transactions and handle cash and card payments via a Point of Sale SystemAssist with inventory tasks, including receiving, stocking, and organizing merchandiseKeep the store clean, well-stocked, and easy to shopPerform basic battery testing and installation, including automotive batteriesComplete local deliveries using a company vehicle, as neededFollow / fulfill all driver program requirements, as specified by the managerTeam-oriented environment with individual performance expectationsQualifications:At least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious retail or customer service experience (preferred but not required)Previous delivery driving experience is preferredMust have a clean drivers record AND meet driver qualifications requirementsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysBasic math skills and comfort handling cash transactionsAbility to successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background checkScope Data:Interacts professionally with fellow Team MembersOperate with integrity and demonstrate a positive attitudeWork Environment:Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and lifting.Be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs, without assistance and occasionally lifting up to 75lbsWork involves some irregularities and difficulties with repetitive and varied tasks.Primarily retail store setting, however, frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, dampness and battery acid as is normal to warehouse environment in this businessStress associated with workplace pressure and the retail environment.Exposed to the hazards of the road when operating or riding in a vehicleNote: We do not accept resumes from headhunters, placement agencies, or other suppliers that have not signed a formal agreement with us.Interstate Batteries provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
