Job Overview

The -In Person/Onsite -Buyer for X-ray Tubes is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory, and supply chain activities related to critical components, particularly X-ray tubes, used. This role ensures timely availability of materials to support production schedules while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance utilizing demand driven and lean inventory methods. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to meet the stringent requirements of X-ray tube manufacturing. This position reports to Supply Chain Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Procurement : Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) for raw materials and components, ensuring alignment with production schedules and customer requirements. Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels. Collaborate with suppliers to confirm lead times and expedite deliveries as needed. Negotiate contracts and blanket order pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
• Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key component suppliers and associated materials. Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of components and related materials to prevent stockouts or excess inventory. Utilize ERP software (DBA) to track material requisitions and forecast demand.
• Demand Planning: Analyze material demands for X-ray tube and power supply production to support manufacturing schedules. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to align procurement with project timelines.
• Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership for purchased materials while maintaining quality standards. Implement strategic sourcing strategies to improve supply chain efficiency. Insource where applicable coordinating with engineering.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all procured materials meet Curpow, Inc. quality standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with quality teams to address non-conformances.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to support new product introductions (NPI) involving X-ray tubes. Provide input on material specifications and supplier capabilities.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Use data analytics to monitor procurement metrics, such as on-time delivery and cost savings. Prepare reports for senior management to support decision-making.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions or material shortages, to ensure uninterrupted production of X-ray sources.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, materials management, or supply chain roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with high-tech components like X-ray tubes or similar precision equipment is a plus.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in ERP systems for material planning and inventory management.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, agile start-up-like environment with high standards for quality and innovation .
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret demand forecasts and procurement data.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with X-ray tube technology, including material requirements for metal, glass, and unique materials for X-ray tubes. An understanding of the assembly processes is highly desirable but not required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an office environment with occasional visits to warehouse or manufacturing areas, requiring PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
