Clinical Pharmacist - Breast Clinic/Oncology Ambulatory (Full-Time/Hybrid, 8-Hour Day Shifts)

A Brief Overview Provides the full range of distributive, clinical, consultative, research, investigational, and/or administrative pharmaceutical services. Incumbents select, compound, manufacture, purchase, dispense, and/or preserve drugs, medicines, and other therapeutic agents; serve as members and consultants on treatment or diagnostic teams; disseminate drug information to hospital staff and community groups; and may participate in research projects. Locations Stanford Health Care 900 Blake Wilbur Dr, Palo Alto, California What You Will Do Applies knowledge of solubility, stability, usage, and administration of drugs, and evaluates dosages and permissible concentrations to prevent chemical reactions. Applies knowledge of physical and chemical properties to weigh, measure, mix, and compound drugs. Interprets prescriptions, dispenses products, and alerts physicians to interactions, overdoses, or incompatibilities. Identifies drug differences related to therapeutic efficacy. Stays abreast of new developments in the drug field and emerging pharmacy practices. Maintains records, documents patient data, prepares written reports, and provides oral reports concerning patient care. Contributes to teaching programs, training courses, and refresher sessions. Ensures proper storage, protection, and preservation of therapeutic agents per USP and NANF standards. Provides assistance in coordinating investigational drug services for research at SHC. Participates in sponsor site qualification, initiation, and FDA/DEA/NIH audits. Guides investigative drug service technicians. Attends meetings to provide input on drug protocols and acts as liaison between study team, sponsor, and nursing staff. Education Qualifications Bachelor's in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university. Experience Qualifications Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience; or one (1) year if a PGY1 residency is completed. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Judgment and informed decision‑making. Effective oral and written communication. Fostering effective working relationships and building consensus. Precepting students and residents. Planning, organizing, prioritizing, working independently, and meeting deadlines. Understanding how age, sex, comorbidities, concomitant drug therapy, foods, and diagnostics influence drug activity. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements for pharmacy practice. Medical terminology, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and disease states. Proper handling, storage, and management of pharmaceutical supplies. Basic sciences relevant to pharmacy practice. Knowledge of prescription and non‑prescription drugs: indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms, contraindications, and side effects. Licenses and Certifications CA Board of Pharmacy License – Registered Pharmacist required. BLS – Basic Life Support required within 30 days. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days. The salary for the selected candidate will be set based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
