A pharmacist role is available to support a healthcare facility in Sacramento, CA, offering a contract position with flexible weekday and occasional weekend shifts. This role involves essential responsibilities in pharmacy operations, supporting a licensed 125-bed facility with an average daily census of 120 patients.

Type: Contract
Dates of Coverage: Start ASAP, 4-5 days per week (likely)
Shift Hours:

• Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (with occasional shifts from 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Weekend coverage may be required: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• On-call coverage must be handled unless staffing gaps occur

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee medication order entry using the HCS system (training provided)
• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and PRN pharmacists to ensure smooth workflow
• Manage staffing needs and maintain adequate pharmacy coverage
• Support daily pharmacy functions in a hospital setting with a focus on patient safety and regulatory compliance

Qualifications or Desired Experience:

• Licensed pharmacist eligible to practice in California
• Experience with hospital or healthcare system pharmacy operations preferred
• Ability to adapt to an order entry system and willingness to undergo system training
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals

Additional Information:

• Staff includes 2 pharmacy technicians and 3 PRN pharmacists
• Technician support available Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM for order entry questions
• No site automation currently in use
• Local candidates preferred, though travel expenses may be considered for qualified non-local candidates
