Director of Operations (DOO) On-Demand ConcreteReports To\nChief Executive Officer (CEO) – Justin Buxbaum
\nWorks closely with Jordan Kamps – Sales Manager / CEO Consultant
Position Summary\nThe Director of Operations (DOO) for On-Demand Concrete is responsible for leading and executing all day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality, and profitable performance across all locations and operational functions.
\n \nThis role is designed to transition daily operational responsibility away from ownership, allowing the CEO to focus on strategic growth, geographic expansion, and new initiatives, while maintaining operational excellence and scalability.
Operational Scope\n- 23 concrete delivery trucks
\n- Dispatch team (3)
\n- Sales operations support (internal & external sales)
\n- Quality Control (QC Manager and Field QC)
\n- Maintenance team (3 mechanics)
\n- Yard operations in Denver, Greeley, Loveland, and Salt Lake City, UT
\n- Mobile Batch plant and load-on-site division
\n- Coordination with shared services (Finance, HR, Safety, Admin)
Key Responsibilities\n• Lead and hold operational leaders accountable
\n• Own day-to-day concrete operations and dispatch execution
\n• Ensure concrete quality and QC compliance
\n• Oversee fleet, maintenance, and yard performance
\n• Lead Salt Lake City branch stabilization & growth
\n• Execute mobile batch plant and load-on-site division expansion and profitability
\n• Champion safety and regulatory compliance
\n• Partner with Finance on operational performance
\n• Support leadership transition and company growth
Authority & Decision Making\nThe Director of Operations has authority over daily operational decisions, staffing recommendations, workflow design, and resource allocation. Major strategic, capital, or ownership-level decisions are collaborated with ownership.
Required Experience & Qualifications\n• 10+ years in concrete or ready-mix operations
\n• 5+ years in senior operations leadership
\n• Strong background in dispatch-driven, fleet-based environments
\n• Experience launching new locations or major equipment
\n• Deep understanding of concrete quality and field performance
Key Measures of Success\n• Ownership removed from daily operations
\n• Improved fleet utilization and dispatch efficiency
\n• Consistent concrete quality and reduced issues
\n• Successful Salt Lake City expansion
\n• Successful continuation and growth of mobile batch division
\n Director of Operations – 90-Day Success Plan On-Demand ConcreteFirst 30 Days: Learn & Assess\n• Build strong working relationships with CEO, Sales Manager, and key leaders
\n• Learn current dispatch, fleet, yard, and QC workflows
\n• Review fleet condition, maintenance practices, and uptime
\n• Understand concrete mix designs, QC procedures, and customer requirements
\n• Assess Salt Lake City startup plans and readiness
\n• Identify immediate risks and quick operational wins
Days 31–60: Stabilize & Align\n• Clarify accountability and expectations for operational leaders
\n• Establish regular operational cadence and reporting
\n• Improve dispatch efficiency and truck utilization
\n• Begin standardizing yard and QC processes
\n• Partner with Finance on cost and performance metrics
\n• Support early execution of Salt Lake City operations
Days 61–90: Optimize & Execute\n• Fully assume ownership of day-to-day operations
\n• Implement KPIs and dashboards for fleet, QC, and yards
\n• Finalize blend plant operational plan and staffing
\n• Strengthen safety and compliance execution
\n• Recommend structural or staffing improvements
\n• Provide leadership with a 12–24 month operational roadmap
90-Day Outcomes\n• CEO and ownership removed from daily operational firefighting
\n• Clear accountability across all operational functions
\n• Improved operational consistency and performance
\n• Salt Lake City operations on stable footing
\n• Growth in mobile batch plant division
