Role Description The Diesel Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Swedesboro, NJ. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of diesel-powered equipment and vehicles in the United Rentals fleet. Day-to-day tasks include conducting scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and completing accurate service documentation. The Diesel Technician collaborates with service managers and other team members to prioritize work, ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for rental, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. This role also involves interacting with customers and internal stakeholders in a professional manner to explain repairs, provide status updates, and support a positive service experience. Qualifications Strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for diesel equipment and related systems. Experience with Preventive Maintenance programs, including inspections, service schedules, and safety checks. Ability to perform effective Troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems. Customer Service skills to communicate clearly, set expectations, and support a positive rental and service experience. Technical knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, and heavy equipment; vocational or technical training in diesel technology is preferred. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and work orders, and to use diagnostic tools and software. Commitment to safety, adherence to company and regulatory safety standards, and use of proper PPE. Valid driver’s license; ability to meet any required driving record standards and, where applicable, operate company vehicles. Physical ability to lift and move heavy components, work in varying weather conditions, and stand or bend for extended periods. Previous experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or automotive technician is beneficial; industry certifications (e.g., ASE) are a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr United Rentals
