Role Description The HSE Specialist is a full-time hybrid role based in Evanston, IL, with the flexibility to perform some work from home. In this role, the specialist will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs across UL Research Institutes\' operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations; maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies; and recommending corrective and preventive actions. The HSE Specialist will design and deliver safety training, promote a culture of workplace safety, and collaborate with research, facilities, and leadership teams to ensure safe and sustainable practices. The role also involves monitoring HSE performance metrics, preparing reports, and contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance overall safety and environmental stewardship. Qualifications Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health principles, with experience applying them in research, laboratory, or institutional settings. Expertise in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and environmental stewardship practices. Demonstrated capability in Workplace Safety management, including hazard identification, incident investigation, and implementation of corrective actions. Experience designing and delivering effective Safety Training programs for diverse audiences, using clear, inclusive communication. Bachelor\'s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are an advantage. Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in using standard office and HSE-related software tools for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and foster a culture of safety and inclusion. #J-18808-Ljbffr
