Eaton's IS VEH VGGP division is currently seeking a Lead Technician. This is a full time, on-site position based at our Southfield, MI campus.

Core Hours: 7AM-3:30PM

The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year. This position is eligible for additional overtime earnings. Eaton announced, on June 11, 2026, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What You'll Do:

Eaton's Fuel Emissions team is an organization whose mission is to deliver fuel emission products to customers to meet their specifications.

The Lab Technician is responsible to employ specialized skills and a high degree of expertise in operation of laboratory equipment such as airflow benches, liquid leak apparatus, durability test equipment, measurement devices and vehicle fuel systems to assemble, test, and assess characteristics of automotive fuel system components in accordance with laboratory procedures and requirements specified in test requests.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and functional work area
• Support sample procurement by working with lab/prototype coordinators and suppliers.
• Set-up and operate engineering equipment as indicated in test requests.
• Prepare samples and perform tests according to test procedures and instructions.
• Promptly and effectively communicate test progress and problems to requestor and leadership.
• Trouble-shoot and repair fixtures as needed to complete test request.
• Collect and report data accurately, providing clear and detailed results using spreadsheets.
• Perform operations and adjustments with various tools as required.
• Handle Stoddard, Gasoline and other fuels and chemicals following safe practices.
• Motivated with strong organizational skills for largely unsupervised completion of test plans.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Overtime will vary based on project workload (5-10 hours per week).

Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum High School Diploma and/or GED from an accredited institution
• Minimum two (2) years of laboratory and/or testing experience

• No relocation is available for this position. Candidates within a 50 mile radius of Southfield, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military are exempt from this geographical limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates Degree
• Four (4) years of automotive laboratory and/or testing experience
• Experience with blueprint reading, GD&T
• Experience with Metrology equipment, including CMM's
• Experience with AI powered tools to enhance productivity, improve quality of work products and informed decision making while adhering to company policies

Skills

• Strong mechanical skills for equipment set-up, adjustment, and maintenance.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, such as fabrication, tolerances, and finishes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Mathematical skills for calculations and conversions.
• Technical curiosity, creativity, and inventiveness.
• Effective work planning, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of Automotive Fuel Systems and individual system components
