Job Description

Join a team dedicated to advancing state-of-the-art tactical radios for military applications, contributing to the safety of service men and women in both military and law enforcement capacities. As a Quality Engineer, you will lead quality engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring high standards are maintained from design through to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, including contract review, requirements management, design reviews, verification/validation, and release to production.
• Initiate and drive internal Corrective Actions Requests (CARs) as required.
• Assist in Supply Chain Quality Assurance activities, including approving/auditing suppliers and conducting Source Inspections of Hardware/Software.
• Support Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs).
• Provide an interface between Purchasing, Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing departments during the transition of new products from design to production.
• Support Program Quality Assurance activities for production programs, including First Article Inspections (FAI), Material Review Board (MRB), Change Control Board (CCB), Failure Review Board (FRB), and Work Product review and approval.
• Manage high-priority tasks across multiple projects simultaneously in development.
• Develop Inspection Plans and processes for Receiving and Final Inspection activities.
• Determine Process Capability (Cpk) and defect trends based on statistical analysis.
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent/related technical degree or experience.
• 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Proficiency in ASME/ANSI Y14.5 with the ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, IPC standards, schematics, and RF Test equipment.
• Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance, automated MRP systems, and Cause/Corrective Action systems.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Proficiency in Requirements and Configuration Management tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Minitab.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Efficiency in SAP and/or CostPoint preferred.
• AS9100/CMMI experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy engineering design and manufacturing environment. For the first six months, the position requires onsite work five days a week, transitioning to a hybrid model thereafter. The schedule follows a 9/80 format, with mandatory onsite presence on Monday and Tuesday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Germantown, MD.

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $74.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Germantown,MD.
