Guided by our values of safety, loyalty, integrity and respect, we are committed to delivering meaningful value for shareholders, customers, employees and the communities where we operate.Career Opportunity:The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation of all plant production and service equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, steam, water, and air, perform building maintenance or repair.Employee must function at high levels of quality and efficiency while maintaining the highest standard of safety.Pay Rate: $38.27 Shift schedule: 3p-3a, four on - four offJOB FUNCTIONS:Able to work safely around electrical and other Industrial equipmentAble to work on wide electrical power systems, working with AC voltages ranging from, but not limited to 120/240, 277/480, and DC voltages. This includes performing work on AC and DC motor controlsPerform installation, maintenance, and repair on all Mill equipment with the aid of blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions as directed by Maintenance or Mill Supervision.Perform troubleshooting as necessary.Work with all hand tools and power tools associated with standard mechanical and electrical maintenancePerforms preventive maintenance tasks and understands the use of basic preventative maintenance tools.Monitor and troubleshoot level, flow, and pressure control instrumentationRead and interpret blueprints and electrical schematicsWorking with computer and systems - PLC & DCS ladder logicWork with PneumaticsPerform work on tubing and hose systemsPerform pipefitting and plumbing work on all types of pipes, valves, and fixtures.Perform rough carpentry work as required.Laser align equipment, rebuild pumps, change machine bearings, operate cutting torch, weld plate and pipe, safely troubleshoot and repair hydraulic components, etc.Operate equipment such as hoists, cranes, fork-lifts, etc. to perform rigging and installation tasksDiligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with the Shop Rules from time-to-time job requirements will entail additional duties as assigned by Supervision.May be assigned to various jobs for training purposes at any time.Other duties as assigned.BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Maintenance experienceEDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredJourneyman Certificate preferred4 years Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship preferred4 years of experience as a multi-specialty mechanicMust be able to read and interpret information sheetsSPECIFIC SKILLS:Electrical troubleshooting and performing electricalIndustrial RiggingApplied mathematicsMeasurements/LayoutsWelding and Cutting principles & practicesUse of portable hand toolsUnderstanding operations of pumps, motor alignment, dial feeler gauge, laserPump & Motor Component assemblyMaintain & Rebuild Mechanic Drives, gearboxes, clutches, jackshaftsBasic Hydraulics, pneumatics, blueprints, schematicsWeld steel and stainless steel, and use cutting torch and to brazeMust be able to use various computer software programs for our production and shipping systemsJob requires working around production equipment while it is in operation and requires climbing ladders and working from girders and scaffoldingJob requires exposure to weather, dirt, grease, fumes and heatMust have knowledge of methods of rigging heavy equipment, which includes the use of chain blocks, rope blocks, slings, hitches and overhead cranesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Working in a safety sensitive heavy industrial environment – Paper MillWorking with electricity at varied levels of voltageStanding for extended periodsAwkward and/or repetitive movementsClimbing extension ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or movement within confined areasWork in buildings and areas of fluctuating temperature and weatherSmurfit Westrock is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating and maintaining a diverse workforce Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled.
