This position is open competitive to both internal and external candidates. Vacancies: 1. Hours: 6 hours/day (Monday-Friday 2:30 PM - 9:00 PM, hours may vary for Athletic Events). Months: 10.5. Location: Bassett High School. Eligibility Lists: One eligibility list will be created from this recruitment. This is a continuous examination process and may close at any time, with little or no notice. An application review may occur at any time and qualified candidates who have submitted applications will be invited to participate in the testing process. Qualified applicants submitting applications after the review date will be considered in the next examination process. This list will be utilized to fill any vacancies that may occur during the one year life of the Eligibility List, which may include temporary positions. The list generated from this recruitment will be used to fill both substitute and permanent vacancies in the District.
Basic Function: Under the direction of the Athletic Director and the supervision of the High School Principal, provide instruction on the prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation of physical injuries to students and athletes engaged in various school sports and physical education activities; serve as a liaison between the students, parents, coaches and physicians in evaluation, management, care, and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Examples Of Duties
Identifies, evaluates and provides immediate first aid medical attention including taping, wrapping, bracing, strapping, and padding to prevent and/or minimize the risk of injury or re-injury. Recommends and implements appropriate preventative measures to avoid and/or minimize the risk of incurring athletic injuries, illness and conditions. Develops and implements individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured students, at one's own initiative or as directed by a physician. Assists students with specialized therapeutic exercises by performing demonstrations and ensuring students' understanding of proper exercise techniques and procedures. Evaluates, determines and provides recommendation on the eligibility of athletes to return to athletic activities following injury rehabilitation. Assists with physical examinations and physical fitness screening. Follows Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations regarding confidential student information. Maintain records related to student injuries, treatments, progress and assigned activities; prepare student injury reports and documentation. Coordinates the issuance, proper fitting, collection and inventory of all regular and protective equipment. Assists in an off-season physical training, conditioning, maintenance of physical fitness, and rehabilitation as required. Implements physician instructions related to athletic injuries and treatment. May counsel and advise athletes on health related issues, including nutrition and substance abuse May assist in receiving, storing, issuing and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment utilized in athletic programs. May provide direction to student workers/assistants Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university, in athletic training, health, physical education, exercise science, kinesiology or a related field. Experience: At least six months of paid and/or volunteer experience working in an athletic training environment. Licenses and Other Certifications

- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate
- American Red Cross First Aid Certificate
- A Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License
Working Conditions Environment: Outdoor work environment; subject to seasonal heat and cold and adverse weather conditions. Physical Abilities: Stand and walk for extended periods of time over rough or uneven surfaces; kneel and bend at the waist; climb; lift, carry and/or move heavy materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds; manipulate hands and fingers to operate athletic equipment

Screening Process 2 - Applications will be screened to select the most qualified candidates. The screening process for this position, which may be subject to modification, will include some form of a(n): application screening, initial qualifications screening, documentation/certification screening, and supplemental application screening. Examination Process 3 - The examination plan will consist of: a. Written Exam (100% of final score) - To Be Scheduled Visit our Recruitment Calendar for more details. Examination dates may change or be canceled without advance notice. The examination may consist of any combination of a(n): training and experience (T&E) evaluation, written knowledge test, structured panel interview, situational judgement interview, or other type of exam of fitness for duty. All parts of the examination process are job related. A passing score must be attained on each portion of the exam to advance to the next stage and ultimate placement on an eligibility list.

Exam Protests Protest of any part of the exam process must be in writing and submitted to the Personnel Director no later than five (5) working days from the date you participated in the exam. Any protest must include rationale to support the protest and shall include supporting documentation or references. Protests must be based on illegal discrimination, abuse of discretion, or procedure/process error. Protests should NOT be based on receiving unexpected results. We cannot be responsible for lost mail, misdirected mail, or failure of mail to be delivered after it has been entrusted to the U.S. Postal Service.
Establishment of Eligibility Candidates who are successful in all screening and testing stages will be placed on an eligibility list. Typically, an eligibility list for a classification expires after one (1) year. Candidates on the expired eligibility list are no longer considered for positions within the class. Eligibility lists may be extended beyond one year or expire sooner than one year. Eligibility lists may be merged, in which case candidate ranks may change.
Selection Process Candidates on the eligibility list will be called in rank order to participate in final selection interviews with the hiring manager until three ranks of candidates have accepted the invitation to interview. Ranks may include ties so more than three candidates may be called to interview for one vacancy. Please note that candidates will be removed from the eligibility list for declining the invitation to interview more than three (3) times.
Offers of Employment Official offers of employment are ONLY made by the Bassett Unified School District Personnel Commission office. Offers are subject to satisfactory completion of ALL the pre-employment processing including: successful completion of a drug test, tuberculosis examination, fingerprint clearance by the California Department of Justice, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Advanced Step Placement All new regular classified employees shall be paid in accordance with the salary range established for the class to which assigned. Initial placement will normally be the first step of the salary range. However, a new employee may receive advanced step placement with an approval from the Personnel Commission. Requests for advanced step must be submitted in writing to the Personnel Commission office before the employee's first day of work. Approval will be based on the following criteria:
- a. Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class.
- b. Additional education at the college level when related to the position, beyond the established educational requirements for entry into the class.
- c. Evidence of currently receiving a salary greater than the first step of the salary for the classification.
