Industry Applications On-Highway (Heavy Duty) On-Highway (Medium & Light Duty) Construction Agricultural Oil & Gas Mining & Power Generation Marine Position Summary Perform functions to direct, administer and execute research and development activities for new product designs to meet the needs of the market within the capabilities of our manufacturing environment and perform, direct and administer special projects. Must be an advocate and use principles of the Win strategy. Responsibilities Responsible for special projects development and accountable from start to completion of project goals, objectives and budgets to develop new and improved products. Achieve target costs for all components. Act as a technical consultant for component and system problems for internal and external customers; effectively communicate with customers, sales/marketing, and other divisional, group and corporate personnel. Coordinate and communicate with material suppliers on new materials or processes applicable to new products. Identify new product and market opportunities through trade shows, customer visits, industry surveys and outside consultants. Align internal divisions and outside suppliers to ensure support for master timing, test and validation plans, prototype needs and budgetary constraints are agreed and met. Serve as prime point of contact for customer interface and status on new products being developed for alternative markets. Lead the project team to achieve its chartered purpose and desired outcomes. Create and track the master Gantt for the entire program; ensure all deliverables and milestones are met per customer request. Create and track the open issues list for the entire program; hold weekly and biweekly meetings as necessary. Establish supply chain; ensure team participation and track to meet budgeted cost targets per plan. Create, establish and ensure that the system and component validation test plans (DVP&R) are met and that the end product meets or exceeds customer expectations as outlined in customer value proposition. Ensure that all supporting divisions meet their component and validation targets and dates per Win Strategy. Manage the entire program per Win Strategy; hold stage gate reviews per master time plan. Ensure the project team is trained as required. Encourage participation; ensure that all concerned are appropriately involved; create a stable working environment; clarify the decision‑making process and track action items to closure. Plan and track the project team effort; achieve BETA milestones. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) in mechanical, electrical or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience. Highly organized with the ability to follow a project through to completion. Previous experience with new product launches and new product commercialization. Knowledgeable in manufacturing process and a background in design.
