Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

The position requires a registered nurse specializing in emergency room care. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of ER/Trauma experience. Candidates must possess current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Moderate conscious sedation competency testing is required. Candidate flexibility is necessary regarding start times, which may vary. The nurse will handle a patient ratio of 1:3-4. A charge nurse and unit secretary will be available on the unit. Nurse aides will assist with tech duties. Paramedics will be responsible for IVs, IV fluids, and discharges. The unit accommodates patients with various diagnoses, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, strokes, and myocardial infarction. The emergency room has a separate entrance for high-risk obstetrics. Patients will be stabilized before transfer if they are under 15 years old. Weekend work is required every other weekend, as well as two out of three major holidays. The scrub color for this position is navy. Telemetry and ventilatory support are available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available around the clock. The nurse may be asked to float between nearby emergency rooms. A floor-specific orientation of 2-3 days will be provided. The charting system used is Cerner. Candidates must not be employed part-time, full-time, or PRN with any associated facilities.
