Ground Ramp Agent

As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services. Responsibilities Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate. Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts in a safe manner. Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction. Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies. Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of any danger. Operate and/or drive motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push‑back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers; or manually push and pull push carts and containers. Operate equipment to move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories. Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required. Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, which could include wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers, and prepare records in connection with these responsibilities. Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into the company’s information system as required. Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are always operating in a safe and responsible manner. Complete all training when required by the company, airport governing authority, or customer. Be on time, be prepared, and be safe. Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Ramp agents must be able to lift/carry/push/pull and move items 70 lbs (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 lbs on raised surfaces; carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs; walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods; work in cramped or high places; be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities; work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Good communication skills – communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew. Basic math skills – may be required to calculate weight and balance calculations for planes. Computer skills – may be required to use computer systems to track cargo and baggage. Problem‑solving skills – may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading. Time management skills – manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent. Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States or Canada as specified. Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security. If required by customer or role access, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency. One or more year of relevant experience preferred.
