Reports To: Lo School Principal

Position Overview

The Middle School Teacher provides instruction for grades 6–8, creating an engaging and structured learning environment that integrates academic excellence with a biblical worldview. This role emphasizes subject mastery, critical thinking, and character development while supporting students during a pivotal stage of academic, social, and spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

• Design and implement engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with state and school curriculum.
• Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all areas of instruction.
• Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Utilize varied instructional strategies to promote student engagement and achievement.

Student Support & Assessment

• Assess student learning through formal and informal evaluations.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Maintain timely and accurate grading records.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding academic progress, behavior, and development.

Classroom Management

• Create a positive, structured, and respectful classroom culture.
• Establish clear expectations and consistent routines.
• Implement classroom management practices consistent with school policy.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in PLC meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Support student spiritual formation through mentoring and discipleship opportunities.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.
• Submit required reports, lesson plans, and documentation on time.
• Supervise students during assigned duties (lunch, carline, chapel, etc.).

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Upper School Principal or Headmaster.

Requirements

Education & Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (required).
• Valid state teaching certification (preferred).

Experience

• Previous middle school teaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development.
• Experience in a Christian school setting is a plus.

• Strong classroom management skills appropriate for middle school students.
• Ability to deliver subject-specific, standards-based instruction.
• Effective differentiation strategies for diverse learners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
• Ability to build positive, mentoring relationships with students.

Other Requirements

• Must pass background screening and meet all school safety requirements.
• Ability to perform duties consistent with the physical and professional expectations of a middle school teacher.
