A Precision Optics Technician I learns the foundation of our process, starting with shipping and receiving: you log and inspect incoming raw material and customer-supplied parts, and you pack, label, and ship finished parts out the door. From there you clean and handle optical parts by hand, prepare parts for coating, rack and derack parts from fixtures, and perform basic visual inspection. You will work alongside experienced technicians who will train you on every step.

We do not expect prior optics experience. We do expect steady attendance, careful hands, and the ability to follow a written procedure exactly. Military maintenance or technical experience is welcome. Experience in a cleanroom, a dental or medical device lab, an ophthalmic lens lab, or any detail-focused production environment transfers well.

This is the first rung of a five-level career ladder. Pay and responsibility grow as you qualify on more operations. We will tell you exactly what you need to learn to move up and sign off on each skill as you earn it.

What you'll do

• Receive, log, and inspect incoming raw material and customer-supplied parts
• Pack, label, and ship finished parts out the door
• Clean and handle optical glass and crystal parts by hand, following written procedures
• Prepare parts for coating: masking, racking, and fixture loading
• Perform basic visual inspection under magnification
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Work safely with chemicals and equipment per training

What we're looking for

• Able to work any of our three shifts, with steady attendance
• Comfortable with fine hand work and close visual work for extended periods
• Able to follow a written procedure exactly, step by step
• Must qualify as a US Person under ITAR (US citizen or lawful permanent resident)
• High school diploma or GED

A plus, not required

• Military maintenance or technical experience
• Experience in a cleanroom, dental lab, medical device lab, or ophthalmic lens lab
• Experience in any production environment with a quality system
