Make a meaningful impact in education as a paraprofessional, supporting young learners in a dynamic and nurturing elementary environment just 30 minutes from Asheville. Two contract positions are available for the 26-27 school year, each offering the chance to work one-on-one with an elementary student in need of dedicated support.
Position 1 focuses on assisting a student who requires help with mobility, including diapering and close attention to physical needs. Position 2 involves guiding and providing essential assistance to a blind student, ensuring they have equal access and opportunities throughout the school day. Both roles offer full-time schedules, allowing you to immerse yourself in the school community and form meaningful connections with students.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional, aide, or in a supportive educational capacity
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable to varying student needs
- Comfortable with personal care tasks, including diapering (for Position 1)
- Able to follow guidance from teachers and specialists, collaborating effectively
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for assigned student throughout the school day
- Assist with mobility, personal care, and daily activities as needed
- Foster an inclusive, positive environment that encourages student growth
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in student care
- Collaborate closely with educational staff to implement individualized plans
