Medical Auditor

Provide expert review and audit of outpatient professional fee coding within academic medical center settings, producing clear, actionable findings that improve coding quality and supply high-value training data for next-generation AI systems. This is a remote contract role focused on applying deep domain expertise rather than prior AI experience.

• Conduct detailed reviews and audits of outpatient professional fee coding records for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify trends, gaps, and potential risks in coding practices, and deliver actionable recommendations for quality improvement.
• Apply knowledge of academic medical center protocols to evaluate audit findings and confirm adherence to best practices.
• Document audit findings with clear written narratives that enhance training data for AI development.
• Provide high-quality feedback on complex coding and auditing scenarios to support AI learning objectives.
• Engage in collaborative discussions to clarify ambiguous or nuanced coding and documentation cases.
• Support ongoing audit program management initiatives as needed, leveraging prior experience in similar environments.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on outpatient professional fee coding and auditing.
• Direct experience managing or conducting audits at academic medical centers.
• Demonstrated history of high performance and accuracy in coding and audit review assignments.
• In-depth knowledge of medical coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and audit methodologies.
• Experience with audit program management and familiarity with the unique challenges of academic environments.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex findings clearly and produce narrative documentation.

• No prior experience in AI is required, domain expertise in coding and auditing is the primary requirement.

• Pay range: $55.00 to $68.00 per hour.
