LPN Scrub Nurse - Operating Room - Full Time

Job Overview Lowell General Hospital is seeking an LPN‑Scrub Nurse to join our team. This entry‑level position practices under the supervision of the surgical team in the Operating Room, delivering patient care throughout the perioperative experience. Candidates who meet eligibility criteria may receive a generous sign‑on bonus. Schedule & Location Day shift, 7:00 am start time, 40 hours per week. Shift options: 8‑, 10‑, or 12‑hour shifts. On‑call shifts required (weeknights, weekends, holidays). Location: Lowell General Hospital – Operating Room. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Duties and Responsibilities Function in a professional manner as the LPN Scrub Nurse on a wide variety of surgical procedures. Maintain strict aseptic technique during set‑up, patient draping, and during surgical procedures. Scrub on surgical cases, organize instruments, and participate in surgical counts. Select and prepare appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical cases. Perform related activities under the direction of the surgeon and registered nurse. Perform all counts with the RN/circulator according to Operating Room policy. Manage medications introduced to the sterile field in accordance with Operating Room policy. Manage surgical specimens according to physicians’ orders and hospital policy. Follow Operating Room procedures for the proper decontamination of instrumentation, equipment, and room turnover. Assist in the positioning, moving, and transporting of patients as needed. Report equipment and supply problems to the charge nurse, service lead, or clinical manager as needed. When not participating on surgical cases, assist with positioning, obtain needed items during surgery, and assist in room turnover activities. Participate in Operating Room activities related to quality, performance improvement, continuing education, orientation of new personnel, and emergency preparedness. Remains knowledgeable about service‑specific equipment to ensure safe and efficient utilization.
