Job Overview and Qualifications

As a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), your primary duties will include conducting patient assessments, creating care plans, and implementing and evaluating those plans. You will administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. In your role, you will oversee, monitor, and assess the care provided by non-licensed team members. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team, you will ensure the safe and precise delivery of care.

  • You will develop a care plan, adjust it based on the patient's response to treatment, and regularly assess its effectiveness.
  • You will perform cardiac monitoring, identify dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate interventions.
  • You will assess patients' hemodynamic status and accurately interpret the results.
  • You will work with an interdisciplinary team to create, evaluate, and modify care plans to meet patient needs and objectives.
  • You will administer medications and perform treatments in accordance with hospital policies.
  • You will appropriately delegate tasks to non-licensed staff following established standards of practice.
  • You will maintain communication with Resource Nurses, Team Leaders, and Physicians.
  • You will provide educational materials to patients and their families regarding care and treatments.
  • You will assist in coordinating discharge plans with the care team.
  • You will deliver competent care while ensuring a safe and comforting environment, leading to high patient satisfaction.
RequirementsExperience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care environment.
Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or a Compact Registered Nursing License. If you hold a Compact License, a Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required as per organizational policy.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as per organizational policy.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
