Required Education

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related accredited program

• Associate degrees are not accepted

Required Experience

• Bachelor's Degree: 5+ years of relevant professional experience

• Master's Degree: 2+ years of relevant professional experience

• PhD: May substitute for a portion of the required experience

• Relevant internships may be considered toward experience

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in C++ software development

• Proficiency in Python

• Experience with Inertial Measurement Units/Technology (IMU)

• Strong knowledge of State Estimation

• Strong debugging, profiling, and advanced troubleshooting skills

• Experience analyzing source code, application logs, and system behavior

• Knowledge of structured programming techniques and software development best practices

• Ability to interpret system designs, application specifications, and functional documentation

• Experience identifying, documenting, troubleshooting, and resolving complex software/application issues

• Understanding of the complete software/product development lifecycle

Preferred Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience developing Robotics, Autonomous Systems, or Autonomous Vehicle solutions

• Hands-on experience with filtering techniques such as:

  • Error State Kalman Filter

  • Extended Kalman Filter (EKF)

• Strong knowledge of Inertial Navigation and Guidance Systems

• Experience with SLAM, Graph Optimization, and State Estimation

• Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System)

• Strong mathematical foundation including:

  • 3D Geometry

  • Linear Algebra

  • Statistical Error Modeling

  • Gauss-Markov Processes

• Experience working with multiple coordinate systems and coordinate transformations

• Understanding of physics-based modeling, vehicle modeling, and vehicle dynamics

• Ability to review academic/research literature and convert algorithms or research concepts into production-quality implementations

Key Responsibilities

• Develop software and algorithms focused on positioning, localization, and autonomous navigation

• Prototype and productionize localization algorithms for autonomous and semi-autonomous systems

• Develop solutions for estimating:

  • Absolute position and altitude

  • Relative position to terrain features

  • Relative position to static and mobile equipment

• Implement state estimation and filtering solutions using perception, inertial, and GNSS sensor inputs

• Research, design, implement, and validate localization algorithms

• Develop production-quality C++ software , including design, coding, documentation, testing, validation, and functional safety support

• Contribute to localization requirements definition and software/system architecture

• Participate throughout the development lifecycle, including design, coding, documentation, quality assurance, testing, and validation

• Troubleshoot complex software and system-level issues using diagnostic tools, logs, and code analysis

• Collaborate with and mentor other members of the localization engineering team

• Convert research concepts and prototypes into scalable production implementations
