Aerotek is hiring for a Quality Inspector in Newark, DE for a manufacturing company in Delaware!

The Quality Inspector ensures that precision-machined components consistently meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and internal quality standards. This role combines office-based quality work with hands-on inspections on the production floor and requires close collaboration with machinists, operators, and engineering staff to maintain product quality and process integrity. The successful candidate brings strong experience with precision measuring tools, a solid understanding of GD&T, and exposure to CMM inspection processes.

Responsibilities
  • Perform dimensional inspections of machined components using precision measuring instruments to verify compliance with engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Utilize precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and pin gauges to inspect and validate part dimensions.
  • Interpret and evaluate engineering drawings and machining blueprints to determine inspection criteria and tolerances.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspections to assess form, fit, and function.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections to support production and quality objectives.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain complete, organized quality records in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Identify non-conforming products, escalate issues appropriately, and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support and comply with ISO quality standards and internal quality management procedures.
  • Collaborate with machinists and operators to troubleshoot quality issues and drive continuous improvement in processes and products.
  • Assist with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operation and programming when experienced and as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and ensure proper calibration and care of measuring equipment.
  • Work effectively between the quality office and production floor to provide timely inspection support and feedback.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and similar tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for machined components.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and their application in inspection.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards and related documentation processes.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on the production floor and in an office setting.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with machinists, operators, and engineering personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), including operation and basic programming.
  • Experience with CMM inspection processes and use of CMM machines for dimensional verification.
  • Exposure to inspection software or digital quality systems for recording and analyzing inspection data.
  • Prior experience in a precision machining environment or in aerospace or automotive manufacturing.
  • Comfort working with small precision components and tight tolerances.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, DE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
