By deploying thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), we've created a global network that bridges the digital divide, enabling reliable connectivity for homes, businesses, vessels, aircraft, and more.As a member of the Enterprise Products Software team, you'll own software for bring-up and operation of new Starlink products including:Plaser, our space laser product which connects third-party vehicles to the Starlink constellationCommunity Gateway, our terrestrial very high throughput parabolic antennaStarlink Aviation, enabling tens of millions of passengers to experience Starlink worldwide and more to-be-launched products that leverage Starlink in new industriesYou'll drive features at different layers of the stack, including embedded applications, backend systems, and user interfaces. Prior aerospace experience is not a requirement to be successful here - we're looking for ambitious engineers who thrive when they're diving deep on challenging, interdisciplinary problems.Our software engineers are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software they create, including development, testing, and support. We expect our engineers to close the feedback loop between software design and real-world performance. In this role, your software will have a meaningful and measurable impact on the world. RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant devices that operate for long periods of time with minimal maintenance for millions of usersParticipate in and lead architecture, design, and code reviewsIdentify areas to improve the experience, reliability, and efficiency of the productDevelop prototypes and manage experiments to prove out key design conceptsWrite quality linux based software for common processors and microcontrollersDevelop hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and testcasesBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline1+ year of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience is acceptable)PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Deep understanding of the technologies you've worked in; being able to answer 5-whys-deepDemonstrated curiosity and willingness to question requirements and push technical boundariesExperience with embedded systemsExperience launching and operating consumer or enterprise productsCreative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentalsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalKnowledge of networking and linux networking stackAbility to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirementsCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:Level 1: $125,000.00 - $165,000.00Level 2: $145,000.00 - $200,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
