Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Application Developer to support the modernization and integration of enterprise procurement and expense management applications. This individual will play a key role in transitioning from an existing procurement platform to SAP-based solutions, including SAP Ariba and SAP Concur.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on software development, SAP application configuration, and enterprise systems integration experience. This is a true development role, with responsibilities split approximately 50% application configuration and 50% hands-on coding.

The developer will work closely with business stakeholders, functional analysts, and technical teams to understand existing application functionality, implement new solutions, and ensure seamless integration across the organization's technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Configuration

• Develop, configure, customize, and maintain SAP Ariba and SAP Concur solutions supporting procurement and expense management processes.
• Design and implement application functionality using Python, React, SAP ABAP and other relevant technologies.
• Build and enhance custom applications, including React-based user interfaces that interact with enterprise systems.
• Configure business workflows, approval processes, and application settings to meet functional requirements.
• Develop custom components, integrations, and extensions where standard application functionality does not meet business needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, configuration issues, and integration challenges.

Systems Integration & Modernization

• Support the migration from an existing procurement platform to SAP-based solutions.
• Analyze existing application workflows, integrations, and business processes to ensure critical functionality is preserved or improved.
• Develop and maintain integrations between SAP procurement and expense management platforms and other internal enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with technical teams to implement APIs, data mappings, and integration workflows.
• Ensure data consistency, system interoperability, and reliable communication between applications.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and custom development.

Technical Implementation & Collaboration

• Translate business requirements and technical design documentation into functional application solutions.
• Partner with business analysts, solution architects, and functional teams throughout development and implementation.
• Participate in technical design discussions and provide recommendations regarding development approaches and integration strategies.
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Support user acceptance testing and address issues identified during implementation.
• Maintain technical documentation related to application development, configurations, and integrations.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise application development, preferably within SAP environments.
• Hands-on experience developing or configuring SAP procurement and expense management applications, particularly SAP Ariba and/or SAP Concur.
• Strong SAP ABAP development skills, including experience customizing or extending SAP functionality.
• Experience developing applications using Python and React.
• Strong understanding of application integrations, APIs, and enterprise system connectivity.
• Experience configuring business workflows, approval processes, and application functionality.
• Ability to interpret technical design documents and translate requirements into working software.
• Experience supporting application migrations, system replacements, or enterprise modernization initiatives.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, particularly when working with complex interconnected applications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with functional teams and business stakeholders while remaining hands-on with development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with procurement workflows, integrations, and platform functionality.
• Previous involvement in a procurement system migration or similar procurement platform replacement.
• Experience integrating SAP applications with custom-built applications and third-party platforms.
• Familiarity with SAP integration technologies, REST APIs, and middleware solutions.
• Understanding of procure-to-pay (P2P), purchasing, expense reporting, and approval workflows.
• Experience developing custom user interfaces or applications that interact with SAP back-end systems.
• Background supporting large-scale enterprise application transformations.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a hands-on developer who is equally comfortable configuring enterprise applications and writing custom code. They should understand how procurement and expense management platforms operate within a broader enterprise ecosystem and be capable of developing solutions that maintain existing business functionality while enabling modernization.

This role is particularly well suited for someone who has worked on SAP Ariba or Concur implementations, understands the challenges of replacing established enterprise platforms, and possesses the technical depth to handle both configuration and custom development.

This is not a purely functional SAP consulting position. The team needs a technically strong developer who can independently code, configure, integrate, and troubleshoot enterprise applications.
