Position: LPN (Night Shift) – Medically Complex (Cardiac/Oncology) Employment type: Part‑time (Night Shift) Compensation: Starting at $26/hr, eligible for increases based on experience; shift differentials and sign‑on bonuses available. Schedule: Rotating days with weekend requirement, 24 hrs/week. Location: Main Hospital – Grand Rapids, MI, Department: Inpatient – 3S Medically Complex. About the Unit Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation’s Inpatient Acute Rehab – Medically Complex unit specializes in caring for patients recovering from cardiac conditions, cancer‑related diagnoses and other medically complex illnesses requiring intensive rehabilitation and close medical and nursing oversight. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to medically complex patients, including medication administration, patient monitoring, and skilled clinical support. Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary therapy teams to support safe recovery and manage chronic and acute conditions. Document care accurately and complete required charting and record‑keeping forms. Administer medications as ordered, ensuring adherence to the 5 rights and stop‑order policies. Perform therapeutic procedures such as catheterization, tube feedings, suction, dressing changes, colostomy care, and range‑of‑motion exercises. Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring nursing staff, and evaluate performance through observation and documentation. Coordinate with other resident services to ensure integrated care for each patient. Maintain a clean, sanitary environment and ensure adequate supplies of medications and equipment. Monitor and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and the organization’s policies and procedures. Report any occupational exposures, safety incidents, or patient complaints to the appropriate supervisors. Support quality improvement initiatives, contribute to departmental plans, and participate in community surveys. Qualifications Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with an active, unencumbered license in the state of Michigan. Current CPR certification. Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long‑term care or with geriatric patients. Experience supervising or mentoring nursing staff is preferred. Strong customer‑service skills, professionalism, and interpersonal communication. Ability to adapt to change and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic mail. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. High degree of personal accountability, responsibility, and independent decision‑making. Physical Requirements Remain in a stationary position: Occasionally.
