Quality Control Supervisor

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor (Technical Team Lead) for its Oriented Strand Board (OSB) manufacturing facility in Elkin, North Carolina. We are looking for a safety-focused leader with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to continuous improvement. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position that reports to the Technical ManagerKey FunctionsThe Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the Quality Control Department. Primary responsibilities include:Maintaining ownership of the Quality Manual and all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Supporting and participating in mill safety initiativesCoordinating with third-party certification agencies to ensure products meet required standards while supporting production goals and customer expectationsAnalyzing and interpreting quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunitiesManaging inventory of designated process raw materials and quality-related suppliesCollaborating with operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve product quality issuesCoordinating mill-scale trials for product improvements, new product development, and qualification testingDeveloping and maintaining technical knowledge of OSB manufacturing processesLeading a team of five Quality Control Technicians, ensuring safe work practices, clear expectations, and accountabilityQualificationsProven leadership experience with commitment to safe work practicesStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience applying statistical methodsProficiency with Microsoft Office applications Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsAbility and willingness to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including occasional nights, weekends, and holiday coverageAbility and willingness to meet the physical requirements of the position, including: Climbing stairs and ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in varying environmental and temperature conditionsPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited university in Wood Science, Forestry, Biomaterials, Engineering, or a related fieldKnowledge of OSB manufacturing processesExperience in an industrial manufacturing environment 5 or more years of previous supervisory or leadership experienceExperience with statistical software packages such as Minitab, SPSS, SAS, or R Knowledge of quality control methodologies and wood technology measurement techniquesAbout WeyerhaeuserElkin OSB Located approximately 45 miles northwest of Winston-Salem and 75 miles north of Charlotte, the Elkin OSB facility operates continuously on a 24/7 schedule.About Wood ProductsWe've been delivering quality building products and solutions to our customers for more than 100 years. We want you to choose us.What We Offer:Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $75,600-$113,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use.
