Safety Manager

Grid-Line Transportation is seeking a Safety Manager to lead execution inside our Safety department. This role is responsible for enforcing structure, driving accountability, implementing workflows, and ensuring consistent KPI performance across the team. We are not looking for a strategist or architect. We are looking for a strong safety leader who can take established workflows, turn them into clear SOPs, train the team, enforce standards, and hold people accountable to results. Core Responsibilities Lead and manage Safety Team Enforcing Safety procedures and compliance standards Driving accountability with drivers and safety staff Managing day-to-day safety operations Set clear daily performance expectations Conduct structured team huddles and performance reviews Coach operators and drivers following any violation or SOP failure, reinforcing expectations and issuing corrective or preventive training where necessary. Escalation path for execution of more sensitive issues such as accidents, incidents, claims, etc. Supporting execution where needed (onboarding/offboarding, additional audits, projects, etc) Workflow & SOP Enforcement Receiving and enforcing workflows Convert workflow frameworks into clear, usable SOPs Train staff and drivers on process adherence Ensure standards are followed without exception Prevent “workflow drift” and inconsistent execution KPI Ownership & Performance Enforcement Tracking and hitting safety KPIs Hold team members accountable to performance targets Address underperformance immediately Report KPI trends to executive leadership Recommend execution-level improvements based on data Cross-Department Coordination Work closely with Operations, Accounting, and IT Ensure accurate communication and information flow Represent Safety in operational meetings What We’re Looking For 3–8+ years of experience in safety management 2+ years of direct team management experience Proven experience enforcing standards within a safety environment Experience managing KPIs and performance metrics Comfortable having direct performance conversations Strong organizational and leadership presence Calm and decisive under pressure Comfortable working in a high-accountability environment Flatbed or specialized freight/ transportation experience preferred. McLeod and Samsara experience is a plus Process-driven and disciplined Decisive and consistent Not afraid to make difficult personnel decisions Data-oriented and comfortable using reporting tools Focused on execution, not politics Leads by structure, not emotion Authority This role has full authority over day-to-day operational safety enforcement within the Safety department.
